Last weekend was our second time in Artist Alley at Anime Festival Wichita. We had a wonderful time meeting people to the con, new and old. Papercute held a giveaway to anyone who signed up for the Papercute newsletter at the convention and announced the winner on the final day (who later responded via email). We also sponsored prizes from Papercute for the AFW Lolita Tea Party.
It was the first time our booth at AFW offered a small selection of retail goods. We received permission from AFW to be placed in Artist Alley because we mostly carried our handmade products (i.e. headbands, cards, soaps, charms, jewelry, tshirts). We received samples of our new shirt designs a bit before AFW and decided to display them for interested persons. I cannot wait to see more of our designs as shirts. We featured many new Amuse plushes at Anime Fest Wichita as well as new cards and headbands! Our newest addition to our love for handmade include our nerdy sphere soaps. We are very thankful for our family and friends who helped us at our booth. Of them is the sweet and talented KCMO cosplayer, Maybean Cosplay.
Personally, I thought it was really nice to see fellow vendors and artists we have met before at previous conventions. We were located in the middle of the hallway next to the awesome and talented Bamjitsu and Scribble Scrab. Check out their work! They were very fun neighboring tables. Bamjitsu has more of a traditional comic book style art whereas Scribble Scrab has art for all you fujoshis/fudanshis. I purchased art from them as well as from other artists that I will feature in an AFW artist post in the very near future (I'm talking to you Pros and Cons Cosplay, Ichico, Barry of 8bitOtaku, Studio TipTop, Maiden Loliland, Cute 'n' Deadly, Creative Corner, Syppah's Cute Creations, and more~). We also so a few familiar faces such as Lily of Milky Minuite Studios, Curt of Asylum Anime, Artwork of CJ Marsh, Kaptastr0phe Cosplay, Evo Genius Gaming, Fir3h34rt Studios, RM Gomez Photography, Kiet Le Design, and many more.
There were many talented cosplayers at the convention. Unfortunately we were too busy to take too many pictures, but here are a few of our favorites. Cosplay guests, cosplayers, and entertainers we met at the convention included the lovely Kate and Charles of Children of Proteus, Mickie Cosplays, Little Beard of Beard and Bean, Tinker Cosplay Studios, Ronigirl Cosplay, Triple Diamond Cosplay, Tahnee Lane.
The AFW Lolita Tea Party hosted by Stazi & Belle was introduced by the lovely Peter Pixie. It was a fun experience for new and veteran lolitas. We had tea, treats, and cute goodie bags. Papercute and Maiden Loliland sponsored gifts for the prizes. We all played lolita themed bingo with adorable Sanrio stickers, voted for the best coord out of the lolitas chosen (I was chosen! I was chosen!! :D), and took a super awesome group picture at the end. Everyone loved their prizes and I even spotted a party attendee come in wearing one of our headbands~ :) If any of you missed the tea party or was interested in lolita, the local lolita group is A Flair for Frills. Papercute is planning on hosting lolita events locally in Wichita so stay tuned!
In less than 4 weeks Papercute will be attending and vending at Bowlahoma, a lolita event organized by the wonderful and talented Kylie of Maiden Loliland. Tickets are still available and we can't wait to see everyone's pretty faces!!
Thanks, love, peace
